On Tuesday, April 11th a group of ELP students attended the Student Voices Matter Rally in Des Moines. Students formed passion groups in order to advocate for issues that they feel strongly about regarding issues in education. The Legal Eagles getting ready to wait for the verdict. Our team consists of: Lawyers--Nick Dolan, Sydney Samples, Max Kayser, Claire Kayser and Casey Brown. Witnesses for the Plaintiff--Jose Carrera, Becca Frantz, Casey Brown. Witnesses for the Defense--Max Kayser, Sarai Carrillo, Lexie Valentine. Tylor Moore is our timekeeper. Mr. Graham and Mrs. Smith are the coaches. Sydney Samples wins third place with her composition that she wrote for Law Day. She was honored at a luncheon for the Iowa Bar Association. Her essay examined voting rights that citizens of the United States have and each citizen's duty to exercise those rights in her composition entitled "Every Vote Counts".
Our team at the IT Olympics: Joshua Heyer, Max Kayser, Cheryl Smith, Olivia Hockey (kneeling) Drakke Kirkpatrick, Daniel Way, Justin Roepsch, Nick Dolan, William Dyer (standing) Congratulation to our Cyberdefense and Multi-media teams. Cyber fought a long, tough battle against the Red Team as they defended their network from various threats. The Multi-media team (Olivia and Nick) took 2nd place overall with their creation of a marketing plan and product out of 24 teams competing at the ITO! Congratulations! We would like to thank our mentors from Guide One Insurance, Dave Beving and Damon Youmans, for all of their hard work and guidance with both teams. We couldn't have achieved this success without them! We have 11 students hard at work preparing for the Iowa State Mock Trial Competition on March 10.
